Why Brushing Your Pool Is a MUST (Especially After a Remodel or New Plaster)
September 28, 2025
You’ve made a significant investment in building or remodeling your pool—now it’s time to protect that investment and keep it looking its best. One of the most important yet often overlooked steps in pool care is brushing the pool surface. Regular brushing helps prevent scale buildup, algae growth, and unsightly stains. For new plaster or pebble finishes, brushing is especially critical. During the first 14 days, brush twice daily to remove plaster dust before it hardens and creates a rough, uneven surface. After the initial curing period, make brushing at least a once-a-week habit to maintain a smooth surface and preserve the beauty of your pool.
Pro Tip: Always brush your pool after adding chemicals. Pool chemicals are heavier than water and tend to sink. If they settle on the pool surface, they can cause etching or discoloration. Brushing after treatment helps ensure proper circulation and protects your pool finish.
